Why Recitals Matter

Recitals are one of the most valuable parts of music education—they bring together everything students have been working toward and offer meaningful benefits for everyone involved.

We encourage all students to participate in every recital opportunity. Here’s why:

Benefits for Students:

  • Develops valuable long-term preparation skills

  • Builds confidence and experience with public performance

  • Provides a strong sense of pride and accomplishment after a successful performance

Benefits for Parents & Families:

  • Creates lasting memories to celebrate your child’s growth

  • Offers a front-row seat to see how far your child has come

Recitals truly transform lessons into milestones - both musical and personal.

Etiquette

Recitals are meaningful milestones in each student’s musical journey. To help preserve the integrity of this special event, we kindly ask all attendees to follow these guidelines:

  • Dress appropriately for the occasion.

  • Stay for the entire program - every student deserves a full and supportive audience.

  • Remain quiet during each performance.

  • Silence all cell phones upon entering the hall.

  • No flash photography, please.

  • Applaud warmly before and after each performer.

  • If you have a baby or young child, please sit near the exit so you can step out if needed.

  • Be fully present. Please avoid using social media, checking email, or texting during the performance - this moment is worth your undivided attention.

Recital Day Procedure

Below is exactly how recital day will run so you know what to expect from start to finish.

Step 1 - Prepare

Before leaving home, take a moment to double-check that you have everything you need. This includes your:

  • instrument,

  • accessories, and

  • your music, just in case you need it.

Arriving prepared helps students feel confident and ready to shine!

Step 2 - Call Time

Students should arrive 20 minutes before their scheduled Showtime.

Showtime refers to the recital session you registered for, such as 9:30am or 11:15am.

When you arrive:

  • Check in and pick up your tickets at the Will Call counter.

  • All audience members age 5 and older must have a ticket to enter.

  • Additional tickets may be purchased at Will Call.

After check-in, students will be invited inside for backstage preparations. Family members are kindly asked to remain outside until the doors officially open for seating.

Step 3 - Doors Open

Doors will open 5 minutes before Showtime.

An usher will announce when seating begins. Once inside, please find a seat and get ready to enjoy a wonderful performance.

Step 4 - Showtime

When all guests are seated, the recital will begin!

Each performance represents weeks and months of dedication. Sit back, relax, and enjoy watching every student share their music with confidence and pride.

Step 5 - Certificate Ceremony and Refreshments

After all performances have concluded, students will participate in a brief certificate ceremony to recognize their hard work and achievement.

Step 6 - Celebrate

That is it!

Following the ceremony, everyone is invited to stay and enjoy light refreshments together as we celebrate.

We cannot wait to see you at recital!
